Who I am, and who I am not
Tahmina Ghaforova is a recovery coach drawing on lived experience of eating disorder recovery and an Integrative Health Coaching Certification (Institute for Integrative Nutrition, 2025). I am not a therapist, psychologist, counselor, psychiatrist, physician, registered dietitian, nurse, or any other licensed healthcare professional, and I do not hold an eating-disorder–specific clinical credential.
What coaching is
Coaching is a present- and future-focused, action-oriented, collaborative relationship. It is educational and supportive in nature, centered on goal-setting, accountability, skills practice, and support between clinical appointments.
What coaching is not
- It is not therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, or mental-health treatment.
- It is not medical care, nutritional therapy, diagnosis, or the creation of a clinical meal plan.
- It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any physical or mental-health condition, including eating disorders.
- It is not a substitute for the advice or care of a licensed therapist, physician, dietitian, or other qualified professional.
- It is not crisis or emergency support.
Working alongside your care team
Coaching is designed to complement, not replace, clinical care. If you are actively struggling with an eating disorder, I require that you also work with a licensed therapist, and, where appropriate, a physician and/or registered dietitian. I may request written confirmation from a treating provider that coaching is appropriate for you before we begin or continue.
No guarantees
Recovery is individual. While I bring my full care and experience to our work, I cannot and do not guarantee any specific outcome or result. You remain responsible for your own choices, decisions, and actions.
Crisis resources
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, this is not the right kind of support. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text NEDA to 741741. Outside the US, contact your local emergency services.
